Fast for me, won't you?
I’m sure most of you know about the very special Jewish holiday, Yom Kippur that was just observed yesterday, technically nightfall Sunday to nightfall Monday. It is considered one of the most holy days of the year for them and is commemorated with a whopping 25-hour fast and intensive prayer.
Personally, I like Jews over Christians because generally speaking Jews seem to be closer to reality than your everyday Christian. I mean with the whole second coming of Jesus BS.
This short video goes into detail on why most religions ask their followers to fast and why there is such negative attention attached to sex in relation to religion. This video quickly explains why Sex and even eating on special days is considered sinful.
Watch the video and tell me it isn’t true.

Who said sex is a sin ????
Who said sex is a sin? ... Christianity for the most part, but let us find out.
Google Search: sex sin
First 5 results:
1. Sex sin examples from the Bible
2. Consequences of sex sin
3. Is Oral Sex a Sin
4. Is premarital Sex a Sin?
5. Sex, Sin, and Salvation: What Augustine really said.
The first result, shows passages from the Black Book. Maybe you don't think it is a sin, but then, neither is homosexuality (or so you say). Da'Nile isn't just a river in Egypt.
This is an adolescent approach to a much more intellectual problem. Simply put, however, sex is not wrong, but an omniscient God gives us parameters on sex---FOR OUR GOOD. Since God is LOVE, He loves us too much to see us make stupid decisions that will affect our psyche--like same gender sex. This is prohibited--not because it is evil, per se. It is prohibited because everyone who does this will reap negative consequences, ie unfulfilled, lasting relationships. (not to mention disease, etc.)
so a non-adolescent way would be to approach it through god,
How about factual content?
- How certain are you that lasting homosexual relationships don't exist?
In the end, it is what they want, and to view it with YOUR scope of fullfillment is quite a pirouette.
Everyone has different standards.
As it goes to disease, the percentage of infection in the homosexual community is dropping, where as it is skyrocketting in the heterosexual community.
I know this for a fact, I worked at my local health center on aids prevention.
Let's not assume becuase the bible says so, means there's more of, or in other words, is worse.
Lisa,
I think you misunderstood the point behind this video.
First I'd like to start by saying, this 'all loving God' you speak of is subjective. There is no proof of any such deity by any rational standard. Defending something your god says by calling it love is childish. Best known as the "father knows best" mentality.
The video is in agreement that sex isn't bad, but it points out why this stigma does exists within the realm of the faithful such as yourself which can be seen by your views on homosexuality.
Sex, Fasting and other known faith based concepts can easily be shown to be a form of brainwashing. Sorry to bring up the "B" word, but having faith in the words of a deity that by his own standards is evil can only occur from sever mental problems or brainwashing. I’m willing to bet you'd prefer the brainwashingover mental dysfunction.
I'm 25, a homosexual, and a freethinker. I came to terms with my homosexuality in my teens, and knew beyond a reasonable doubt (subjectively) that I was a good, loving human being and that my attraction to men was in no way hurtful to my fellow man.
Reading the bible as a teenager I simply didn't agree with the author (God). The author commits genocide (Noah's flood) yet doesn't condemn slavery. There are so many terrible things that it is impossible accept, no matter how much love it professes.
From what I understand, you have no choice but to accept all that your God tells you. God, his books and the faith you speak of contradicts free will at its core. Freewill starts in your head, and works its way to your actions.
